Indian Riders Autumn Rally - Kenley 2019

Blimey..! It's been a year since the last time, where did that go…? What’s he on about I hear ya scream..? Since the last Rally at Henley that’s what, so as I spend wasted life as a steering wheel attendant in French France, it was a bit of a panic to get back to the Sport Scout, which was fully freighted. On the Friday of the August Bank holiday, a quick shower, and after the starting procedure had been  followed, she fired right up and off I set. Due to the Bank Holiday I KNEW the roads would be full, so picked out a lovely empty country route to the site, at one stage I was followed for miles by a modern Harley rider. And at the very last roundabout, he passed me with a thumbs up, then on that very roundabout another Blue Indian (Chief ridden by Wayne) got in front of the Harley, at the traffic lights the Harley lad couldn’t contain his disbelief, “TWO Indians” says our hero, well fumb me, or words to that effect…
And so  both Blue Indians pulled into the Rally site, and in the warm Sunshine I got on with saying my Hellos before throwing up the canvas hovel, then settled down to what I knew would be a good weekend, had to pay first I thought, so over to see Boudicca and hand over me hard earned. Then time for a light refreshment or two, which involved chatting with Bootsy and Co. Then into the bar, where one of me mates got told in no uncertain terms, that it’s the Officers Mess and he should take his hat OFF..!
Got to keep an eye I that one methinks, Cliff was up on stage with his guitar, the Ale was good and so too was the company, whilst we drank the hunger came, so we ordered up a jacket potato, which was followed by a take away Indian. PERFICK…
Saturday saw me in the breakfast line first, can’t help it, 06.00 is halfway through my working day, and a fine meal it was too. Then the call came to gather around for the ride out, a run to Box Hill then continue on to Rykers Cafe. I was most surprised to find the bike started, have I FINALLY mastered it’s quirks at long last, I pondered..? The ride went very well indeed, apart from Russel the Norfolk Warbler, seems a myopic woman dragging a caravan turned, and had the lad off the bike. No damage done thankfully, but let’s be careful out there guys eh..?
After the Cafe, most went back, me and a couple others went for a little Bimble to hunt down a local brew, and in that hot Sun it was very welcome. A nice drop of Ale, as the bikes cooled in the shade of an old Oak tree. The time was creeping on, and so off we set, had to get back they had Spag Bol on the go today. A lovely relaxing day, apart from the pot holes, more of them later…
Good food once more, along with good Ale, and great entertainment. Cliff once again on the guitar, along with the Norfolk Warbler, Fred on vocals and Uke, and a lad I THINK called Ian on the most fantastic Blues Harmonica. Can’t remember names, its me Old Timers, but I’ll never forget his playing, I LOVE the Blues me…
Sunday Morning, and once again first for breakfast, then we all got ready for the ride to the Summer Pioneer finish, see the old bikes arriving after their ride out. This turned out to me an aircraft museum, I didn’t go in as it was far too hot out in the Sunshine, I’d also hit the millionth Pot hole of this weekend, and it caused my headlight lens to jump ship. I was reliably informed that the Motolamp lens is made from fine Diamonds, and I’d need to re-mortgage the family home to replace it..! Turned out to be true as well, my Flabber was well and truly Gasted I can tell you, but Jerry Greer came up trumps, as long as the custom duty isn’t too silly this time. Anyway, with this all sorted we hit the road once more, to a nice custom car/bike show. By now the Sun was as hot as it could be, the queue for food and drink was silly. Nothing for it then but to get in line, and it never touched the sides…

Good job the bike started up again, and to think last year it was playing up, and it was smoking like a trooper too, so apart from me missing lamp glass I was well happy, then got even happier when after doing the silly games back at the site. Cliff & Roy awarded me with THIRD prize, what a great laugh that was, trying to do their various challenges whilst riding a foot clutch bike, great fun. Then after all the fun and games, we had a marvellous BBQ. And more entertainment in the bar, perfick just perfick. As we say here in Kent....
Monday morning, once again up for breakfast, and today it was eaten with a heavy heart, for it was the last day of a fantastic weekend. I’ve more than likely missed out loads, but that’s for you to Blimey..! It's been a year since the last time, where did that go…? What’s he on about I hear ya scream..? Since the last Rally at Kenley that’s what, so as I spend wasted life as a steering wheel attendant in French France, it was a bit of a panic to get back to the Sport Scout, which was fully freighted. Get along and discover for yourself. This club has certainly got a load of great members, three days of constant laughing, food and camping all for £20. I tells ya, it don’t get any better than that, see y’all next year, if not before…
Oh by the way, seeing as the Sport Scout behaved this weekend, I’m actually going to attempt to take it to Belgium for the MTO Rally in Oostende, if it all goes to plan, I’ll spin a yarn about that...
